Corona Virus Update
March 20, 2020
It was only a few days ago that we, the Music City Tech Organizing Crew, elected to defer our decision about continuing, postponing, or cancelling our conferences this year. The current statements from the medical community (CDC and WHO) indicate that we should expect social distancing to be the norm for quite some time or in rolling waves to mitigate the spread of Covid-19. This is important because of the burden a spike in severe cases would put on our hospitals and healthcare system. Social distancing is our way of load balancing the burden on the hospitals and health care system.
The response to this need has been rapid and unforeseen. As such, we are electing to Cancel Music City Tech 2020 which will include Music City Code, Music City Agile, and Music City Data. It saddens us greatly to come to this decision. We know our conference is a great opportunity for the local community to get education and network and we deeply care for and appreciate our attendees, speakers, vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and crew. This care for our community is the very reason we are taking this action.
In the meantime, continue to be the amazing community we know and love. Make wise choices based on sound medical advice. Work from home if you can. Limit your exposure to others. Wash your hands. Stay connected virtually because social distancing doesn’t mean emotional distancing and we are, afterall, social creatures. Our care of each other is what will make these trying times bearable.
See you in 2021!
